I understand your feeling. I had the same thought. You just need to try a lot. If each company you apply, the chance that you will be hired is 0.01% if you try 10 your hired rate should be 0.1% if you try more, it will add up. I have applied all top 50 construction companies, all AUS councils, many of other companies.I did try to ask bulider as well. The answer is you just need to try.
What is your profession? Are you PR visa holder?

Maybe you should have better preparation. There are many common questions. usually they will ask you. What makes us think we should hire you? What are you going to contribute to XX company? Why did you pick us? What is your goal in the next 5 or even 10 years. bababa.... Also, you should know the companies well. in case they ask you about them.

Ym .. as far as i know. It s not easy to get a job as in your profession. because there are not many position ava. You know it's not like civil.
You can try to apply positon in governemnts, like councils
You know once you get a few years working experience, your paid is like 70k per yr if you are lucky enough, but it shard to get start
