“应该家长还是学校来教育小孩成为好的社会成员？”
题目：Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
范文：
There is a heated discussion regarding the social responsibility of school and parents and their role in children’s development of social manner. Many acknowledge that parents are to shoulder the duty to educate their children of social protocol rather than schools. From my perspective, I believe both parties hold equal responsibility in cultivating young students’ social manner and courtesy.
Apparently, school-based education allows parents and teachers to work closely in children’s development. School provides more social contacts which play a significant role in nurturing students’ interpersonal and communicational skills. Moreover, school environment is believed to be resembled to the actual society, where young children are encouraged to articulate their feelings and learn to respect diversity and differences between themselves and their peers. It is not difficult to understand that school resources can benefit children not only in knowledge acquisition but also in practice of their social manners.
On the other hand, family influence should not be overlooked when it comes to children’s education and development. Research has found that children’s internal value and personal beliefs are greatly impacted by their family. Regardless of parents’ intentional or potential influence, the outcomes of such influence will reflect in children’s mental and physical development. Parents should be mindful of their capacity of affecting their children’s behaviour and character. Undoubtedly, parents’ involvement in fostering children’s acceptable social conducts is as important as schools.
In conclusion, I think schools and parents should work hand in glove to educate children to become a well-mannered citizen. With the efforts of both parties, children will have a healthy and educational childhood which will definitely have positive impacts on their development of behaviour, beliefs and value.
