If you are talking about mobile broadband, I highly recommand you use Telstra for the following reasons:
1) Because you wanna use mobile broadband, therefore, stable rather than speed is the first factor you should consider because theoretically due to the 3G Tech specification, there is not much speed difference among various providers. Telstra has nearly 90% base station in Australia, and some other SP like Optus, they partially rent Telstra' broadband to provide service.
2) Telstra has corporation plan or special plan for personal users to guarantee your connection always keep alive, so if you are business user or your mobile broadband for business use, e.g. mobile banker, I suggest you should use Telstra.
3) I don't work for Telstra, and my 3G mobile broadband provider is Hutchison 3G Australia, but I also have a Telstra 3G with corporation plan(Comes from my company for work use) which works extremely well (It can get strong signal in some places while my personal 3G can not or only has weak signal).
Just my 2 cents.
